Why do people keep moving to Boerne Texas?
I was asked by a client recently why people have been moving to the Boerne area in particular. Their observations were:
The homes are more expensive than other areas in the San Antonio metro.
The commute to major employers is, in many cases further too.
They pointed out that Boerne doesn't have a Target or many of the dining options found in other parts of the metro.
It didn't take long for me to point out why I feel many people move here (including my family). It's for EXCELLENT schools!
My kids are out of the public schools system now, but I found a resource online to provide some of the accolades received by the Boerne Schools System known as BISD.
Here's what I found:

In the past five years, BISD has received numerous accolades, including:
2023 Texas Education Agency (TEA) "A" Rating: BISD has received an "A" rating from the TEA for the past five consecutive years. This is the highest possible rating that a school district can receive. [1]
2023 National Blue Ribbon School Award: Boerne High School was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This award is given to schools that have demonstrated exemplary academic performance. [2]
2023 Cognia (formerly AdvancED) Accreditation: BISD has been accredited by Cognia, the largest accrediting body in the United States. This accreditation is a testament to the district's commitment to high standards and continuous improvement. [3]
2023 National School Boards Association (NSBA) Magna Cum Laude Award: BISD was awarded the NSBA Magna Cum Laude Award, the highest honor bestowed by the NSBA. This award recognizes school boards that have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to their communities. [4]
2023 Texas School Counselor Association (TSCA) CREST Award: All 13 BISD campuses received the TSCA CREST Award, which recognizes schools with outstanding counseling programs. [5]
In addition to these accolades, BISD has also been recognized for its commitment to innovation. The district has been a leader in the use of technology in the classroom, and it has also developed innovative programs to support students with special needs.
BISD is also known for its strong financial management. The district has a healthy financial reserve, and it has been able to keep property taxes low.
Boerne ISD is a highly respected school district that is committed to excellence. The district has a long history of academic success, and it is constantly striving to improve. BISD is a great place for students to learn and grow.
