Living in Fair Oaks Ranch
The city grew out of the ranch that oilman Ralph Fair Sr. assembled in the 1930s, where he raised racehorses and later registered Hereford cattle. The family began developing part of the ranch as a residential community in 1975. In 1978 the Fair family home became the country club, which is still a social center of the community today. Fair Oaks Ranch incorporated as a city in 1988. The 2020 census counted 9,833 residents.
Cibolo Creek runs through the city, and much of Fair Oaks Ranch keeps a rural feel with deer, oak-covered hills and homes on half-acre to multi-acre lots. Shopping and dining are a short drive away in Boerne and along I-10 toward The Rim and La Cantera.

The city includes the original Fair Oaks Ranch sections plus newer subdivisions.
