Even though school will be looking a bit different this year, it's important to stay organized and find ways to keep your child organized and ready to learn! Here are great ways to help with some of the chaos that may come with online and distance learning. 

#1: Magnets

When school starts, papers start flooding your home. Particularly if you have several kids each one is bringing home different schedules from their schools that will keep you busy from sun up to sundown. How do you keep it all together and remember important dates? With magnets!

For school schedules get magnet crazy and pin them on the fridge. You can put magnetic strips on the wall in your kids’ rooms to hang important reminders on so as not to clutter up your refrigerator, or even to keep metallic toys off of the floor.

Go to an arts and crafts store and pick out some decorative magnets or just buy plain ones and decorate them with the kids. It makes for a fun family time activity and will help you stay organized throughout the school year.

#2: Containers

There are so many uses for different types of containers to create multiple lifehacks for every room in the house. Here are just a few examples from HuffPo:

  • Make your own caddy using an empty shoebox, a paper towel roll, and some glue to store pens, pencils, and crayons.
  • Use file folders in a separate file folder box labeled for each of your children to keep school paperwork organized.
  • Create a decorative holder for writing utensils by painting jars to match the colors of the rainbow and placing them inside of a larger container like a vase.

#3: DIY Desk

Another great idea from the Huffington Post for families with tiny kids’ rooms with not a lot of space is a flip-down wall desk. You can either buy one or make one yourself. Just buy a wood frame cubby and a flat board cut the same size, add hinges, and a hook to latch at the top.

Try this handy trick too: take a section of a wooden pallet and use it to create a slatted book holder to hang on the bedroom wall. It’s a great place to store homework and folders.

#4: Wall Sleeves

Wall sleeves are excellent instant organizers for clunky shoes and hats. Hang one over your front closet door so that kids stow them away as soon as they walk into the house. In their bedrooms, use an organizer to hold all of their school supplies like erasers, markers, and thumbtacks.

#5: Racks

Wine racks are not just for potables anymore. They came in so many varieties that they make great organizers for all over the house. For back to school, you can use office file cubbies and racks to create “mailboxes” for each of your kids where homework assignments and letters to parents go
