What it’s like to run a VRBO?
We recently helped the Donnelly family buy their second short term rental investment home. Courtney was kind enough to find some time between managing the homes, and her active family to answer some questions for us!
Q: What lesson you have learned?
A: The best lesson we have learned is to stay true to our vision. For example, when looking at our competition, some vacation rentals offer cheaper rates or permit several more guests to stay at the property than what we offer. While this could help us stay booked more often, we have learned not to waiver in order to provide our guests with better furnishings and accommodations that are unique to their interests.
Q: What’s the weirdest thing that one of your tenants did/left behind etc?
A: To protect their privacy I prefer not to answer, but we have found thank you letters and small tokens of appreciation (like flowers, etc.)
Q: What do the neighbors think?
A: Our neighbors have had several positive things to say about our houses and the guests that have stayed. A few have talked with the neighbors over drinks in the front yard, which we love to hear! We have worked on keeping our neighbors up to speed on our rentals, our intent is to have respectful guests and open communication so they could contact us for anything.
